Internship Opportunity

Position:

 

New Trier Partners, LLC ("NTP") is looking to hire an Intern-Associate to join our private equity firm for Fall 2009/Winter 2010.  The Intern-Associate will work closely with the senior management and clients in the development and execution of a wide range of corporate and real estate transactions, assuming significant responsibility from day one. The Intern-Associate will also assist in fund raising and business development activities.  This position does not pay a salary.

 

Intern-Associate responsibilities will typically include:

 

•Financial analysis of potential investment opportunities, including real estate investments and acquisitions

•Centrally involved in efforts to raise private equity fund

•Discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout and comparable company analysis supporting valuation opinions

•Research on industry transactions

•Management of client and deal partner database

•Significant client interaction

 

Qualifications:

 

Qualified candidates must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a very entrepreneurial environment. Candidates must also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving abilities, an understanding of financial statements and experience using software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. Candidates with strong backgrounds in finance and accounting or other quantitative majors are preferred, as are candidates with relevant work experience. Candidates from private equity, investment banking, law backgrounds, corporate development, etc. will be considered. Candidate must have an MBA or enrolled in an MBA program

The Database/RFP Associate is responsible for data collection and maintenance of both internal and external databases.  This position is responsible for producing and maintaining compelling and accurate responses to databases, RFPs, RFIs and questionnaires.

Responsibilities:

• Fulfills monthly and quarterly data requirements for updating databases in a timely and accurate manner.

• Identifies ways to continually improve quality, delivery, availability and overall department service.

• Serves as a backup to other CRM Associates during heavy workflow.

• Fulfills special project requests as needed.

• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• 4 - 6 years experience in the financial services industry in a product management, proposal writing, marketing communications or other similar role.

• Series 6, 7 or 65 licenses a plus.

• Thorough understanding of the investment management business, the organization’s products and services and the RFP response process.

• Strong organizational and project management skills; team and service-oriented with the ability to interact with all levels in the organization.

• Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, deadline driven environment.

• Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database applications.

Job Description The Marketing Associate is primarily responsible for creating and updating institutional marketing literature, institutional sales presentations and slides, and competitive intelligence reports. This position also works with the Director of Institutional Marketing to write and edit various pieces. The Marketing Associate provides support and handles other administrative functions for the Director of Institutional Marketing, as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts research using a variety of different sources in order to gather data for written and presentation content. Supports data requests from the Director of Institutional Marketing.

• Creates and updates competitive intelligence documents.

• Drafts brief written materials such as eNewsletters and other emails for drip campaigns.

• Provides timely and accurate updates to marketing literature, such as fact sheets, attribution commentary and GIPS documents.

• Oversees all Web site updates and ensures content is accurate and presented in a timely fashion.

• Maintains responsibility for all slide and presentation updates.

• Strives to improve knowledge by reading articles and keeping current with trends in the industry.

• Maintains a strong understanding of the business including financial terminology; has a good understanding of Calamos products, strategies, and organizational structure.

• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Finance, Communications, Journalism or English.

• Three to five years experience working for an asset manager or financial consulting firm. Experience with institutional marketing preferred.

• Proven project management skills.

• Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines.

• Must have an avid interest in investments and a good understanding of investment terminology.

• Comfortable working with databases. Experience with eVestment, Morningstar Direct and Money Market Directory a plus.

• PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe products with the ability to learn new programs quickly.
