Bachelor of Science in Finance
In support of the college's undergraduate programs, the Department of Finance provides a curriculum that enables all students in the College of Commerce to acquire a basic understanding of the public and private financial processes affecting all aspects of business, government and personal investments. It provides a strong foundation for students with career goals related to corporate financial management, investment analysis and management, risk management, management consulting, banking, and other financial institution administration. Finance majors find practical experience through the department's internship program which places students at leading firms including Merrill Lynch, Salomon Smith Barney, William Blair, Charles Schwab, Harris & Associates, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board Options Exchange. Many students hold part-time jobs at investment firms, banks, research organizations, as well as at the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank and the Chicago Board of Trade.
